My Doctor Just Gave Me An RX For A Sleep

My doctor just gave me an RX for a sleep aid Trazadone. Researching online it appears it is for depression and that concerns me to take it if its an antidepressant. Also description states increased appetite. (unwanted)
Can Trazadone be taken only as needed for occasional sleep disorder.
