My Doctor Just Started Me On Niacin To Reduce My

My doctor just started me on Niacin to reduce my high triglycerides. Tonight is my second dose of a 500 mg tablet. I think he means to slowly increase it over time, but now I'm breaking out in hives. Is this common? I will certainly call his office in the morning but for tonight, should I be worried?
