My Doctor Prescribed Valium 2 Mg Only Half A Tablet

My doctor prescribed Valium 2 mg only half a tablet everyn8 hours for anxiety. I have a tear in my meniscus and it is getting much better but I am going with my family on a two day short vacation that will include walking. If the pain is too much, can I take Tramadol or would Aleve be better? I am a 74 year old woman.
