My Doctor Put Me On Bisoprolol 2.5mg Then Up To

My doctor put me on bisoprolol 2.5mg then up to 5mg then found that was too high and wants me back on the 2.5, (half a pill) so I've been taking three quarters of a pill the last two days and I'm having crazy anxiety, palpitations, unable to eat or sleep how long can I expect this to last? I'm supposed to go down to 2.5mg tonight so it should level in a few days right? When is this a "tough it out" vs a "go to the doctor" thing. I have no relief medication for anxiety because I haven't had a panic attack in 10 years until today.
