My Doctor Said I Have A Kidney Infection But Said

My doctor said I have a kidney infection but said if the trimethoprim tablets do not work I will have to go to the hospital for an ultra sound to find out if there is a kidney problem . I am fifty year old and also have thick and clotted blood, I would like to know if this happens what would be the treatment the hospital would recommend it is very painful at the moment and I did not sleep well last night and wonder if the tablets are working ,but I only started taking them yesterday.
