My Dog Is Chewing On Her Left Back Paw Alot.

My dog is chewing on her left back paw alot. I ave tried to check it but she pulls away. Also, her personality has changed somewhat. She has always been timid but not she seems even more so. She is a 7 year old cocker spaniel mix. At first I thought it was allergy related. She is eating.
