My Father Has Pain In The Left Side Of His

My father has pain in the left side of his head when he turns his head while lying down.while walking he dont have much pain..he has a history of bye pass surgery he was recently diagnosed with cervical spondylitis.please help doctor of what could be the reason for pain.
