My Fiancé Has The Genetic Form Of COPD. He Gets

My fiancé has the genetic form of COPD. He gets an infusion every two weeks. He is still able to do things fairly well but gets short of breath with exertion like walking up a hill, carrying heavy things, cleaning. His last pulse ox was 97%. I am with him for better or worse, but do feel sad sometimes that he might not live two long. Is it reasonable to expect he may still have 5-10 years left? I asked him to ask his doctor about the surgery that removes bad alveoli so the good ones can expand and his doctor told him "you don't have any good ones left." He is 64 and in otherwise good health. He quit smoking 20 years ago, but never really smoked a lot. He was exposed to a lot of toxins in the past with his job. I love him very much and will be marrying him this year, but I worry about losing him and would love to have hope that we might get 5-10 years together.
