My Fingers Are Scaly And Peel And Crack. Lotions Don't

My fingers are scaly and peel and crack. Lotions don't seem to help. I saw a dermatologist about a year ago and had a crème that didn't seem to help it at all. I have hesitated in going back as the visit lasted about a minute and they sent me off for the ointment. I can't recall the name of it and I am not home at the moment.
This is on 5 of my fingers.
