My Five Year Old Grandson Has A Rash All Over

My five year old grandson has a rash all over and has had it approximately 3-4 days. Before that we took him to the doctor for an irritation all around his left eye. They first gave him some medication but it continued to flare up. Took him in to a hospital clinic they gave him antibiotics on Monday said it was a viral infection, still hasn't cleared up. Any ideas?
