My French Bulldog Tore A Muscle On His Back A

My french bulldog tore a muscle on his back a few summers ago when he ran into the brace on a new picnic table we put in our yard now he has problems if he gets too carried away playing with our pug. He has rymadyl and a muscle relaxer. I only give it to him when he has overdone it and make him stay still for a couple days. Can a dog take skolaxin? Not sure of spelling he has been xrayed and is eating and drinking fine.
