My Friend Had Surgery Last November 2013 Due To Cancer

My friend had surgery last November 2013 due to cancer and the following organs were removed: the bile, the gall bladder, the duodenum and half of her pancreas. She is on remission. Can she still go on living without them. She is in so much back pain and has stopped drinking pain relievers because she couldn't sleep due to pain. What else is there to help her?
