My Friend Had To Have A Varicose Vein On His

My friend had to have a varicose vein on his leg cauterized because it would not stop bleeding. After two days it looks okay, but he wonders how long it should be firmly wrapped. He is afraid something could cause the cauterized area to bleed again. Should ointment be applied? He has some decolorized iodine solution, also antibiotic creams. He was not instructed by the emergency room doctor on this.
