My Friend Has Been In The Bed Since Monday. She

My friend has been in the bed since Monday. She says that she has a hard time getting a full breath and can only walk a short distance before she is out of breath. She has pain on her right side under the ribs and it goes around to her back. She thinks it is probably pain stemming from her bad neck. (nerves being pinched)
Also when she is laying down, she can breathe while on her side but not on her back. (She is overweight and has diabetes. I can't get her to go to the emergency room/
