My Friend Is Overseas With Her 11 Year Old Son

My friend is overseas with her 11 year old son who sustained a grade 4 spleen injury. The doctors where she is have told her that he cannot fly home before at least 6 weeks, but the insurance company here is pressuring her to fly her son back to the states 2 weeks sooner. Is there an accepted protocol? Everything I am reading online says that longer recovery is better before possibly enduring turbulence and seat belts, etc.
