My Friend Is Visiting From Nicaragua. She Has Tow Daughters

My friend is visiting from Nicaragua. She has tow daughters ages 15 and 18 that have problems with ovarian cysts. The 18 year old has undergone surgery. They are currently taking Diane 35 to prevent ovulation and chance of cyst development. Is this medication used in US for this purpose? Is there a better medication.
