My Friend Just Told Me Her Allergist Told Her That

My friend just told me her allergist told her that Zyrtec crosses the blood brain barrier and can cause facial tics. Her son has developed a tic. He switched him to Allegra. I've taken Zyrtec for years for chronic hives and it keeps them at bay. Would Allegra work instead? Is there any benefit to switching if I don't have side effects?
