My Friend Recently Had A Yearly Physical. His Doctor Did

My friend recently had a yearly physical. His doctor did a CBC and the results came back with a platelet count of 88,000 a low red blood count (he can't remember the #) and high liver enzymes. He was also told his b12 was low. The Dr told him to come back in a month to retest. Is it normal to wait and retest?
