My Girlfriend Woke Up And Said She Had Caught Her

My girlfriend woke up and said she had caught her period, she has been on Depo for a year but she said that she felt the doctor didn't put it in her correctly. So usually her blood would be like brown or a dark red now it was like a cherry red so long story short she had took a test a couple hours later after her period and it came back positive. Is it a true positive or false?
