My Gland , I Think It Was My Gland Swelled

My gland , I think it was my gland swelled 4 nights ago that it turned red and swollen that I couldn't even sleep . It look like the redness went down my neck . I went to my dr Tuesday morning and he didn't even want to touch it because it looked painful . He perscribed amoxicillin for 10 days . The swelling is down , but I feel little lumps going down my neck .... The original bump (swollen gland ) is gone but now I have little bumps I feel under my skin ... Any ideas what caused this ??
