My Grandson Is 8 Months Old And His Mother Is

My grandson is 8 months old and his mother is a family physician. She has had him to a pediatrician because he doesn't pass bowel movements and becomes impacted. They think he may lack innervation to his colon and I was wondering if this is a symptom of a larger syndrome that may be developing? He otherwise is healthy, has a good appetite as seems to be developmentally on target. Thank you
