My Grandson Is Eleven Years Old Not At All Affectionate

My grandson is eleven years old not at all affectionate and tends to cringe a bit when being kissed. He was diagnosed early as being mildly autistic. I always thought children were naturally affectionate. Is his lack of affectionate display due to his autism?
