My Grandson's Friend Is A Heroin Addict On Vitriol (Spelling?)

My grandson's friend is a heroin addict on vitriol (Spelling?) which prevents opiates from giving a high. He wants to stop and has just started to inject himself with water. Is there danger in doing this? He has a fixation with the needle sticking. He is seeing the therapist.
