My Heart Has Palpitations. I Had Them For 3 Hours

My heart has palpitations. I had them for 3 hours the other day, went to the er. They hooked me to a machine, and told me it was anxiety. Then I had onever palpation a few minutes ago. It lasted one second but thumped so hard it hurt. Is this something that I should worry about ?
