My Husband & I Contracted What We Thought Was A

My husband & I contracted what we thought was a really bad cold while visiting my brother in North Carolina this last week. We arrived home yesterday & still felt really bad. We went to our local hospital affiliated quick care where the dr. Did a flu test & determined we both had the flu. More than 3 days have gone by so he said Tamiflu wouldn't be effective. He recommended pseudoehedrine Advil & benzonatate 200mg. For cough.
My question is how many days will be contagious to others? My husband thought he said 2to3 weeks? I thought he said we will have symptoms up to 3 weeks?
