My Husband And I Were In A Car Accident In

My husband and I were in a car accident in June. A bump on his shoulder appeared. Later it was drained three times and he was near death when he was sent to the hospital for 4 days. He remained on a pic injection of anti-biotics for four weeks after.
What caused the bump? the the infection?
