My Husband Fell Hard And Hit His Thigh On The

My husband fell hard and hit his thigh on the brick hearth of our fireplace 2-1/2 weeks ago. He had severe bruising which is a little better, but there is a lump at the upper part of his thigh and one on the side of his knee area. I can't tell the lumps are getting smaller. What are these lumps? Is there a danger of blood clots? What should we be doing? He used ice the first couple of days after the fall.
