My Husband Had A Ruptured Disk L4 L5 Three Years

My husband had a ruptured disk L4 L5 three years ago. Last august the same disk reruptured. After months of continued pain he had a dorsal column stimulator implanted. It worked great for 24 hours. Unfortunately his spinal cord was nicked and a csf leak caused the wires to move and the stimulator quit being effective. The stimulator was revised I. Feb. Surgeon did not place wires where they needed to be due to scar tissue. He didn't want to try any further to get wires in afraid of another csf leak. So stimulator still not working...new dr. Second opinion said needed L4, L5, S1 fusion instd of stimulator. Did the newly recommended surgery almost two weeks ago, and leg pain is so severe now he can barely walk. Is that normal? Will it get better, and if so, how long might it take. As of now, two oxycodone every 4 Hr barely cuts any of his pain
