My Husband Had An Injury To His Right Calf Last

My husband had an injury to his right calf last Thursday night . He took a knee at full speed in soccer to the calf. We had it X-Rayed Sat and they said nothing was broken. They gave him 800Mil Ibuprofen to get the swelling down and told him to rest it and continue using his crutches till he could apply pressure to it. Today the swelling has gone down and now his ankle is huge with bruising. There was no issue with his ankle before. Should I be concerned about a blood clot?
