My Husband Had Cataract Surgery On His Left Eye Three

My husband had cataract surgery on his left eye three years ago and the doctor said his cataract was dense and that required another surgery a week later in Pgh. Now his pupil is blown and blurry, if any vision in that eye. Now he's to have the right eye done. Is there any way to protect him from a repeat performance?
