My Husband Has A Bad Bruise It Started Two Days

My husband has a bad bruise it started two days ago above hip bone on the right waist line. Now tonight he has a new bruise that appeared making it larger. Probably size of a lemon already. Can you tell us what's matter. He doesn't seem to be in pain and can not remember hitting or bumping into anything ?
