My Husband Has A Dropping Heamaglobin, RBC, As Well As

My husband has a dropping heamaglobin, RBC, as well as hematocrit. He has had this once before and his HMG dropped to 63. At that time they thought he might have leukemia, but ruled it out as a virus with the old red blood cells attacking the new ones. Now about 6 years later it is back, no one is even concerned, they told him to take iron but his ferritin is fine. His coloring is not good sometimes yellow, sometimes grey tires easily. WE did see a specialist once before, he did not think this would ever come back. I of course am concerned and I suppose my question would be in light of the past history should he ask for a referral to the hematologist/intern at this time or continue to monitor his labs?
