My Husband Has A Form Of E-Coli That Is Resistant

My husband has a form of E-Coli that is resistant to antibiotic. We are told that he will have a pic line so that antibiotics can go right to his heart...this can be done from home they say...but they also say they have to be careful not to spread to other patients ...if it is that dangerous how can he go home? We have pets...
