My Husband Has A Large Hernia And After Eating On

My husband has a large hernia and after eating on Thankgiving threw up all night and has not thrown up dice then !but stomach is swollen and uncomfortable. He has had a couple bowel movements and is passing gas and burping. First we thought maybe food poisoning, but no one else was sick. He has been gradually getting better, but stomach tonight got swollen again after eating plain rice pasta and he drank apple cider. My concern is could this be a strangled hernia
