My Husband Has A Nodule That Has Grown From 20

My husband has a nodule that has grown from 20 mm to 38 mm in 7 years. We are going to see a specialist but was wondering in the meantime if this common for non cancerous nodules or more common for cancerous ones. My husband is 73 and has had no symptoms other than brain fog which might not be related at all due to his age.
