My Husband Has An Extremely Swollen Lips And Face. It

My husband has an extremely swollen lips and face. It started last night with his upper lip on the left side swelling up for no apparent reason. This morning both upper and lower lips and his face are swollen. There is no pain involved except from the extreme tightness of the skin. He ate nothing out of the ordinary and has no known allergies other than penicillin. Is it ok to wait til his doctor is in or should I be taking him to the ER?
