My husband has copd. He has never seen a Pulmonary specialist. In my opinion it is time. His PC has not once described the disease, nor explained it. He has been treating my husband for 2 years now. The PC doc want him to have a stress test - at age 72 - first time ever, and he can't catch his breath. He goes in the a.m. for a spir.breath test. I am concerned with his noisy breathing, labored breathing, throwing up after eating or using his inhalers. To say the least, I am very concerned. What can I ask the dr to be more aggressive ? Without being negative, or bossy. After all I am not a doctor. I am going on my experience of working in long term care for 23+ years; seeing end stage copd residents - not the beginning stages. Thank you.
