My Husband Has Developed Diarrhea Which Resulted One Time With

My husband has developed diarrhea which resulted one time with him becoming incontinent in public. Now he is so anxious that every time we leave the house, he thinks he has to go to the bathroom even if he doesn't. He is unable to leave the house. Is this an anxiety disorder and would medication help?
