My Husband Has Pain In The Right Side Of His

My husband has pain in the right side of his abdomen. It's below his ribs and above his hip bone. He has had discomfort for about a week. It started in right side of his back and now is in the right side of his abdomen. Today when he got up out of the chair, it was a shooting, burning pain. The pain level was an 8 when he got out of the chair. Now it is about a 6. He will be seeing a nurse practioner tomorrow. He is a VA patient and the VA is about 3 hours away.
