My Husband Have Inflammation And Pain On The Cheek And

My husband have inflammation and pain on the cheek and in front of his left ear. Is it possible to be a viral infection like MUMP? Otherwise he does not have any other symptoms.
Is it contagious? Nhe took 6 Advil today and the inflammation and pain seems to subside.
Would you recommend for him to stay inside?
