My Husband Hit His Leg On A Piece On Medal

My husband hit his leg on a piece on medal on Friday just below his knee.It has brused and swelled .We have put ice on it which helped . It has been a little discolored ( little redness) ,but this has gotten better. The sides of his knee has brused later. The lower leg has swelled also . Today the ankle is swelled with the bruse moving to ankle.We are keeping ice pack on it which helps swelling. Notice different days has different sore or tender areas on leg .What do you recommend
