My Husband Hurt His Back A Week Ago. He Bent

My husband hurt his back a week ago. He bent over to pick up something on the floor and couldn't stand back up. He went to the chiropractor who did a number of routine procedures, but the pain continued. He went to the dr and was given a muscle relaxer. He continues to be in a lot of pain. He has muscle spasms and it hurts to move. I also noticed a large bruise on his back where it is hurting him. Any suggestions?
