My Husband Is 59 Years Old Has High Blood Pressure

My husband is 59 years old has high blood pressure for which he takes Rx X2. And he is a smoker. :( He told me this a.m. that last he was very cold and his heart felt like it was beating out of his chest. Should he contact his physician? He states he is fine but said he really thought he was going to die.
