My husband is 71 years old, has congestive heart failure, 2 stents, stage 3 chronic kidney disease, and small-cell carcinoma (lung, in remission). He had thorocentesis yesterday; approximately 900 ml of fluid was removed from the pleural lining of his right lung. He has slight swelling in his feet tonight, and low blood pressure. He takes 40 mg of Lasix daily, but has not had a dose since Thursday. He also takes Plavix 75 mg 1x daily, and pravastatin sodium 40 mg 1x daily. His last bp reading was 66/49, 111 pulse, about an hour ago. He insists on waiting til morning to go to the emergency room. He is lying flat right now, attempting to sleep. Is there anything I can do to increase his bp? Will cold Gatorade help?
