My Husband Is 84 Yrs And Has Dementia. He Has

My husband is 84 yrs and has dementia. He has always disliked medical intervention unless pain becomes
the master. He is not very actve, less so every day. I've noticed recently he has some difficulty getting up
from chairs. In addition he began to shake his left leg. Within the last day or two he is walking very slowly
and gingerly. Obvious something is happening. He is eiher denying it or doesn't understand what is
happening. I've asked if I could help when I see these things and he motions as if to say away with you or
I don't need help. I'm trying not to nag him but he doesn't want to listen to me or scowls when I suggest
we should probably call the doctor for advice. For instance, is rest, heat, cold or exercise and Tylenol the way to approach this until we can get advice from his new PCP who does not yet understand that my husband will say he is fine, I'm concerned that he could fall which would be extremely difficult to deal with
since I am his caregiver in chief and I'm 80 with many chronic medical issues. His favorite things to do
these days is to go down the stairs (6 steps) to the front door and walk to the mailbox at the corner of mid-sized lawn Sometimes he picks up the paper, sometimes he picks up the mail, sometimes he checks the mailbox 3 or 4 more times a day. We seem to have this little understanding that there may not be any mail
but he goes for a walk, day or night. Sandra Scanlon, YYYY@YYYY
