My Husband Is 92 Yrs Old And Has Had 3

My husband is 92 yrs old and has had 3 bouts with gout and I am having a hard time to get him to listen to me about his diet and stopping drinking. He is taking medication (allopurinol; 100mg) 2x daily. Most of the food he likes is the food he shouldn't eat. My question is what damage is he doing to his foot and is there other medication he could us so he can enjoy the remainder of his life. He also has COPD. Sould I call his PC doctor?
