My Husband Is Having Severe Pain In His Shoulders, Thighs

My husband is having severe pain in his shoulders, thighs and buttocks for about 2 weeks. I have a fracture in my foot and he is helping me getting dressed and putting on my walking boot every morning and night. He says he's using muscles he hasn't used before. Our doc put him on extra strength Tylenol 2 times a day. It helps in the morning and through the day but when he arises in the am he is so stiff and in so much pain he can hardly get out of bed. Sleeping is painful and he awakens through the night. We have codeine tablets from a severe cough he had a few months ago. Would it be safe to take before bed along with the codeine?
