My Husband Is Having Sharp Pains In The Upper Right

My husband is having sharp pains in the upper right side in his ribs. He's having a little difficulty breathing and seems to be having some spasim. I'm not sure if he's cracked a rib or if he's bruised it. Or if maybe it could be his gall bladder. He does not have an appendix as it was removed years ago. We are unsure if a trip to the er is necessary or not. Can you help me.
