My Husband Just Started Having Severe Throbbing Pain In His

My husband just started having severe throbbing pain in his lower right abdomen radiating into his right testicle for the past 10 minutes. Pain is now decreasing. Has not noticed any swelling. Has had his appendix out. Age 42. What could cause this and what should he do it if increases or happens again?
