My Husband Says He Has Aching Pain In The Back

My husband says he has aching pain in the back of his neck, going down either side of his back and on both sides of his chest. He is 64. I came home from my class and he was in bed, saying that he was going to die and I should just let him go. I'm scared. He was crying and he never does that. He is normally a strong man. What's wrong? What can I do? He's begged me not to call the paramedics.
